【摘要】:Theextensiveporositypresentinpressedandsinteredferrousmaterialsmaskstheeffectofinclusionsonmechanicalproperties.Incontrast,thepropertiesofmaterialpowderforgedtonearfulldensityarestronglyinfluencedbythecomposition,size,sizedistribution,andlocationofnonmetallicinclusions.Thetestfornonmetallicinclusionsinpowderforgedsteelsisusefulasthefollowing:Characteristictoclassifyordifferentiateonegradeofpowderfromanother.Meansofqualitycomparisonofpowdersintendedforpowderforging,lottolot.Significantvariationsinnonmetallicinclusioncontentwilloccurif:Thepowderusedtoformthetestspecimendoesnotmeetpowderforgingqualitystandardsfornonmetallicinclusioncontent.Processingofthepowderforgedtestspecimenhasbeencarriedoutunderconditionsthatdonotpermitoxidereductionorallowoxidationofthetestspecimen,orboth.1.1Thistestmethodcoversametallographicmethodfordeterminingthenonmetallicinclusionlevelofpowdersintendedforpowderforging(PF)applications.1.2Thetestmethodcoversrepresspowderforgedtestspecimensinwhichtherehasbeenminimallateralmaterialflow(1%).Thecoreregionofthepowderforgedtestspecimenshallcontainnoporositydetectableat100.1.3Thistestmethodisnotsuitablefordeterminingthenonmetallicinclusionlevelofpowderforgedtestspecimensthathavebeenforgedsuchthatthecoreregioncontainsporosity.Atthemagnificationusedforthistestmethodresidualporosityishardtodistinguishfromoxideinclusions.Toomuchresidualporositymakesameaningfulassessmentoftheinclusionpopulationimpossible.1.4Thetestmethodmaybeappliedtomaterialsthatcontainmanganesesulfide(admixedorprealloyed)providedthenearneighborseparationdistanceischangedfrom30mto15m.Note1Thetestmethodmaybeappliedtopowderforgedpartswheretherehasbeenagreateramountofmaterialflowprovided:Thenearneighborseparationdistanceischanged,orTheinclusionsizesagreedbetweenthepartiesareadjustedfortheamountofmaterialflow.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
