【摘要】:Workersmaybeexposedtocontactwithmoltensubstances.Theclothingusedshouldprovidesomeprotection.Whetherpersonalinjuryresultsfromsuchcontactdependsontheresistanceofthematerialfromwhichtheclothingismadetomoltensubstancecontactandtheamountofheattransferredthroughthematerialtothewearer.Thistestmethodratesmaterials,thatareintendedforprotectiveclothingagainstpotentialmoltensubstancecontact,fortheirthermalinsulatingpropertiesandtheirreactiontothetestexposure.Theprotectiveperformance,asdeterminedbythistestmethod,willrelatetotheactualend-useperformanceonlytothedegreethattheend-useexposureisidenticaltotheexposureusedinthetestmethod.Visualinspectionofthespecimensubjectivelynotesthematerialrsquo;resistancetomoltensubstancecontact.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheevaluationofmaterials''thermalresistancetomoltensubstancepourbydescribingmeansofmeasuringheattransfer.Note1Asusedinthistestmethod,thetermmoltensubstancereferstothethreecompositions(aluminum,brass,andiron)forwhichtheprocedurewasvalidated.Thetestdesignmaybeadaptedforusewithothersubstancesnotvalidatedaspartofthetestmethod.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletomaterialsfromwhichfinishedprotectiveapparelarticlesaremade.1.3Thistestmethoddoesnotmeasuretheflammabilityofmaterials,norisitintendedforuseinevaluatingmaterialsexposedtoanyotherthermalexposureexclusiveofthemoltensubstanceitself(see).1.4Thistestmethodshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetomoltensubstancepourundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethethermalhazardorfireriskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualconditions.However,resultsofthistestmaybeusedaselementsofathermalriskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallthefactorsthatarepertinenttoanassessmentofthethermalhazardofaparticularenduse.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsaregiveninSection.
